Dedrick Stuber was born in New York on May 4, 1878. Stuber studied at the ASL in NYC and with Bridgman, Onderdonk, and Clinton Peters. While in his native state he painted many landscapes of the countryside of Westchester County and on Long Island. Dedrick Stuber came to California in 1920, settling in Los Angeles where he exhibited through 1940. Stuber died in Los Angeles on August 18, 1954. Although he painted seascapes, he is best known for his pastoral landscapes of southern California. A plein-air painter, his preferred working time was the cool, shadowy hours of sunrise when shade predominates.
