  Alexis Many (1879-1937).  Painter, Craftsman.

Alexis Many was born in Indianapolis, IN on Aug. 10, 1879.  Alexis Many was primarily a resident of Washington DC where from 1901 to 1936, he was a teacher at McKinley High School.  During the 1920's Alexis Many spent many summers in Laguna, Beach, California and exhibited with the California Art Club and Laguna Art Association.

Member:  Salmagundi Club; Exh: Society of Washington Artists, 1919-32. Washington Art Club.  Awards: Bronze medal, Society of Washington Artists, 1921; Corcoran prize, Society of Washington Artists, 1921: 1st prize, California Art Club, 1921 (1st prize); Laguna Beach Art Association, 1921 (2nd prize); CGA, 1912, 1923, 1928, 1930; Washington Art League, 1934. In: George Washington University
