Emil Kosa was born in Czechoslovakia on April 20, 1876. Kosa worked with his father making marionettes for his theater and as an assistant to Alphonse Mucha in Paris for 20 years.
Emil Kosa immigrateed to America in 1907 and by 1922 had settled in Los Angeles with his son, Emil Jr. He made puppets which he used as models for his paintings. Kosa died in Los Angeles on May 11, 1955.
